Stupi AB was founded in the late 1970's in Karlstad Sweden. Today the company serves a world wide customer base.
The main focuses of Stupi AB are on the areas of Time and frequency meterology, Optical networks, IP networks for operators and carriers, Government policies for infrastructure and electronic communications.
Stupi AB operates its own ISP (Internet Service Provider) in Stockholm. The core infrastructure consists of about 20 routers configured in three individually redundant networks at speeds of 10Gbps, 2.5Gbps and 622Mbps. The network uses the latest available hardware and software from major vendors, supports the full IP Architecture including IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast. Routing is done with BGP4, IS-IS, PIM, and MSDP. Major use of the network is to carry out evaluation of new designs, protocols and hardware as well as software stability testing. Stupi AB have several research activities in its core areas of expertise. Some research are internal, but a majority of the work is done in collaboration with other organizations or as customer projects.

Stupi AB operate its own timescale traceable to UTC in its meterological center in Stockholm. The timescale is made avaliable though the use of NTP to anyone connected to a network that has interconnect to the Stupi.NET ISP. Clocks and timescale at Stupi is recognized by the Swedish Government as a national resource and participate in the effort to provide a resilient national timescale in Sweden.
